A Swiss delegation recently visited Norwegian People's Aid's Mine Action Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well the NPA Global Training Center for Mine Detection Dogs located in the village of Blagovac outside of Sarajevo. The delegation was led by the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Didier Burkhalter.

Mine clearance operation in Chile and Peru complete

NPA-GTC breeding status

Read more...GTC-MDD currently breeds over 100 Belgian Shepherds (Malinois) a year. Malinois are usually active, friendly, protective and hard-working, and have a high prey drive. The breeding program selects the appropriate combination of bloodlines within the pedigree. As a result GTC has a higher success rate in training puppies into fully accredited MDDs and EDDs than any other known search dog producer of this type in the world.

During the summer 2012, Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) was invited by the governments of Chile and Peru to assess a designated area for demining located between the two countries in the vicinity of the Quebrada de Escritos ravine, where landmines were washed out on the shores of the Pacific during heavy floods in February 2012. In the period 6-11 August, NPA conducted and assessment mission to Chile and Peru, visiting the designated area and meeting with relevant representatives from both countries.
